Walking Tour of Downtown Bastrop
Named a Distinctive Destination™ by the National Trust for Historic Preservation in 2010, downtown Bastrop has maintained its unique historic character and is well worth this short visit.  We'll meet at the Bastrop Visitor Center at 1016 Main Street, located in the lobby of a bank built in 1889 which remains virtually unchanged since that era. From there, we'll stop to shop along Main Street and then venture into the Old County Jail to see the tiny cells and infamous hanging hook on its second floor. For those who have more time, our guide will also provide a walking tour along Church Street so that we may see several of Bastrop's beautiful historic homes, and with over 130 such sites listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Bastrop earned the name "Most Historic Small Town in Texas.”
Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and come hungry as Bastrop has great restaurants downtown.
