Business is booming for many Texas attractions this month, with spring break travelers arriving in record numbers.

Last week was Spring Break for the majority of Texas schools, and many of our member attractions reported they were seeing a record-breaking number of visitors. Could this be a sign of a recovering economy? We certainly hope this momentum continues throughout the year!

South Padre Island saw its largest crowds of the past five years, with an estimated 15,000 revelers hitting the beach last week. San Antonio area attractions also had a stellar week, with numerous area attractions seeing the highest number of visitors in their history, including: The San Antonio Zoo, The Witte Museum, Ripley’s Haunted Adventure, Guinness World Records Museum, Tomb Rider 3D, Ultimate Mirror Maze and Laser Challenge, the Buckhorn Saloon and Museum, and the Texas Ranger Museum. Natural Bridge Caverns, celebrating its 50th anniversary this month, also welcomed a record number of visitors last week. The Dr Pepper Museum in Waco welcomed over 5,000 visitors last week, according to their Twitter feed.

Responses on the TTIA Facebook page about Spring Break business included:

"We are busy than ever at Wildcatter Ranch in Graham, Texas. The weather has been nice which means lots of horseback riding, skeet shooting and just relaxing by the pool. I hope this is a good indication of our summer months.” - Jason McAlister, Wildcatter Ranch

"The Texas State Railroad is seeing great numbers this week! I love seeing the trains and our campground full of people! Yesterday and today we sold out our Dogwood Steam Excursions! That is over 1100 people in just two days! Can't wait to see how this weekend goes!!" - Lori Kastrop Pennington, Texas State Railroad

"Rockport-Fulton is happening place. We are at record numbers. Come see for yourself." - Krystal White, Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce
