9:10 AM - 10:00 AM     This is Not Your Father's Heritage Tourism
In the old days we would just paint a sign that said, "Come see our historic site!"
and some people would stop.  It is true that heritage tourism focuses on the
history of a place but that doesn't mean you have to use antiquated techniques to
attract tourists.  This session will be a moderated discussion of new and innovative
technologies and approaches to increasing site visitation, so bring your best ideas.
And who knows - maybe some of those old approaches may turn up again in a
                                        new package!
Speaker: Terry Colley, Deputy Executive Director, Texas Historical

10:00 AM - 10:45 AM    Building a Visitor Survey Plan
This session explores ideas of developing a successful visitor survey and
approached to collecting information for a community event or general
information. Learning more about your customer or in this case a visitor
can separate luck from planned success as well as measure economic
value related to visitors value in the local economy. This session moves
from survey questions that get results, developing a survey plan to
determine needed responses and a plan to get those results. You will
leave with examples that you can implement in your community and a
plan to better know those coming to your community.
Speaker: Roger D. Hanagriff, Associate Professor in Agricultural Business,

a business plan, from marketing to sponsorships and much more this session
