Speaker: Dan Decker, President and CEO, Texas Travel Industry Association
Daniel J. Decker has been a part of the US travel industry for the past 36 years. He is the President & CEO for the Texas Travel Industry Association (TTIA). In his role, Dan focuses on advocacy and education for its members, growth strategy management and value-added member opportunities that increase an already strong TTIA.
In February 2016 he retired from a successful 26-year, to the day, career at SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment spending more than half of his life with the company. Dan served as President for SeaWorld® and Aquatica™ Waterpark and Discovery Point in San Antonio, a position he held from September 2004 to February 2016. He was responsible for the daily operation of the world’s largest marine life park, as well as strategic planning and marketing for the park’s long-term growth. During his 12 years as president he grew the park’s profit substantially by adding rides, shows, events and animal attractions while caring for the safety of its team members, animals and guests, leading a dedicated, passionate and purpose driven staff of more than 3,000 team members. Prior to that appointment, he was the Corporate Director of Operations and Executive Assistant to the president and chairman of the board for the Busch Entertainment Corporation, an Anheuser-Busch company. He served 10 years as General Manager of Grant’s Farm, the Busch Family ancestral home, a family entertainment and zoological park in St. Louis operated by Anheuser-Busch. Prior to that, Decker held leadership positions in human resources, park operations and culinary operations at SeaWorld San Diego. Before his SeaWorld / Anheuser-Busch career Dan was a leader in front office and guest service operations for resort hotel’s in San Diego, California, Jackson Hole Wyoming and Santa Fe, New Mexico.

She has an Australian Shepard named Cam, and when she isn’t working she competes in target archery competitions nationwide.
Bently is the Digital Sales Manager for Strategic Accounts and Agencies for Hearst Texas. He brings to Hearst Texas his experience as a Marketing and Media Executive with a proven record of success in defining and executing highly successful digital marketing initiatives and integrating digital with traditional marketing programs, strengthening revenue, margin, and competitive advantage. His deep knowledge of, and passion for, the ways digital marketing avenues transform customer interaction, the creative advertising process, business development, lead generation, and the marketing function are all assets to be leveraged to benefit our clients.

Prop. 5 will ensure that the dedicated funding from the Sporting Goods Sales Tax consistently makes its way to the Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife and the Texas Historical Commission, ensuring a steady stream of funding for these important Texas treasures. On November 5th, Texas voters will get to show their support for our parks and historical sites – learn more about how this effort made its way to the ballot, and what lessons you can take back to your organization.

Jenifer has nearly two decades of experience in media relations, crisis communications, speech-writing, coalition building, and media and presentation skills training. Her career has spanned the corporate, nonprofit and political worlds, helping clients develop messages that will resonate with their core audiences and create strategies for effectively delivering those messages through the appropriate communications channels.
Jenifer teaches courses on public speaking, advocacy communications, speech-writing, storytelling and confidence in communication, among other topics. She has been a guest lecturer at UT Austin, Concordia University, American University and UT Dallas, among other institutions. She has taught at the Yale Women’s Campaign School. She regularly presents at conferences and delivers keynotes remarks. She has conducted international training in Kenya, Tunisia, Kazakhstan and Australia.
