Unity Dinner Silent Auction Guidelines

Deadline for Silent Auction Submissions to be included in the addendum given to Unity Dinner Attendees is Thursday, February 16 close of business.

Category Options for Silent Auction Donations:

1. Beyond the Imagination

Includes hard-to-come-by experiences or items that are not available to the public, including behind-the-scenes tours, one-of-a-kind specialty items, etc.

  • Items must have a minimum retail value of $300.

2. Travel, Accommodations, Adventures & Getaways

Includes such items as: accommodations, rental cars, inclusive travel packages, golf packages, spa packages, attraction tickets, professional lessons, restaurants, trail rides, tours, shopping packages, etc.

  • Items must have a minimum retail value of $150.
  • Hotel stays MUST be good for two consecutive nights and valid through March 2013.
  • All details such as travel redemption dates, special conditions, special events with dates and seasonal restrictions, and information necessary to redeem the package MUST clearly be stated on the certificate.
  • It’s recommended that packages include vacation-oriented components (attraction passes, sightseeing tours, meals, etc.)

3. Media, Marketing and Business

Includes such items as: advertising, printing, consulting services and conference/seminar registration.

  • Items must have a minimum retail value of $500.

4. Merchandise, Sports Memorabilia, & Collectibles

Includes such items as: crystal, china, books, subscriptions, sports equipment, wine and culinary delights, alcohol and liquors, gourmet gift baskets, original art, limited edition prints, antiques, original handcrafted items, autographed items, special appearance by artist/author/sports personality, game packages and other miscellaneous tangibles.

  • Items must have a minimum retail value of $100.
  • Used items, unless qualified as antiques or personally autographed, are not acceptable.
  • Please contact the TTIA office if our item(s) weigh more than 50 pounds.


  • The deadline for including your item(s) in the catalog is 5:00 PM on January 25, 2012.  After this date, items will be listed in an addendum sheet.
  • Donated items MUST be pre-assembled by the donor and include all necessary materials to redeem the prize.
  • If you have special display needs, please supply all necessary equipment (easels for pictures, frames for one pagers, etc.) and indicate detailed instructions for setup and display on the donation form.
  • Also remember, the better the package and its description and display, the better it sells.
  • If you plan to bring your items the day of the Unity Dinner, you MUST check-in these items with TTIA at the Auction Check-in/Drop-off area at the Austin Convention Center no later than 2:30pm.
  • DO NOT place items on auction tables. If you cannot arrive by 2:30pm the day of the event, you must send them to the TTIA office by February 14, 2012.

TTIA appreciates your support of the Texas Tourism Unity Dinner and Silent Auction. It raises awareness and builds support of the Texas travel and tourism industry. Funds raised through the Silent Auction are used to support our Legislative Affairs Committee efforts, public policy initiatives and TTIA programs and education projects.
