 Travel & Tourism Week 2016
May 1-7, 2016
2016's Theme: Travel '16

Travel. A primary industry.

This year, our goal is to ensure that travel—and its positive impact—is part of the discussion amidst the 2016 election season. After all, travel is a primary industry in America. There’s no debate about it—travel is a bipartisan industry that works for America.

TTIA's Lonely Luggage Campaign will be unveiled in late May 2016. We encourage TTIA members to provide a sneak peek of the campaign at your Travel Rally Day Activities. See below for suggestions!

Why do we recognize Travel & Tourism Week?

Annual Salute to Travel and Tourism in Texas and America
Travel and Tourism Week is May 1-7, 2016. It’s an annual tradition that was established by a congressional resolution in 1983 and first celebrated the following year.

The travel community typically marks the event in a number of creative ways, from staging local rallies and conducting media outreach to securing proclamations and resolutions from local governments.

Ideas, Toolkits and More!

TTIA is pleased to share the following ideas for our members to use while celebrating this important week to our industry, as well as U.S. Travel Association's toolkit with graphics, social media ideas and more.

My Lonely Luggage!

TTIA will unveil the Lonely Luggage Campaign in late May 2016. Click here for more information on the campaign.
We encourage our members to include a tease to the campaign during your Travel Rally Day activities. Place a few pieces of luggage at your event with signs asking folks to come visit or to take their luggage out for a trip. Luggage should look like it has been in storage for a while!
The signs could say:
"Your Luggage Misses You!"
"I'm Bored in the Attic, Take Me Somewhere!"
"Hey, I Bet Someone Else's Luggage Would Like to Come Visit Us!"
"Help End the Fight Against Lonely Luggage"
You could also add a line, "Find Out More Soon!"
